Fermanagh LSP have been successful in receiving an allocation of £638,670.00 under the Measure 3.1 of the Peace II Extension Programme to cover the period 2006-2007.
BACKGROUND
Fermanagh Local Strategy Partnership (LSP) was formally established in August 2001 as one of twenty-six such partnerships set up to initially administer Priority 3 of the Peace II Programme.
Fermanagh LSP comprises up to 28 members, configured to include a 50/50 membership of Social partners (community/voluntary, trade union, business and agriculture and rural development sectors) and the Statutory and the Local Government Sectors.
Fermanagh LSP has greater local autonomy and an over arching and strategic role within the area. In collaboration with other key agencies, the Partnership will mainly concentrate on the strategic planning and co-ordination of social, economic and environmental development in Fermanagh.
The LSP has responsibility for delivering Priority 3 of the EU Programme for Peace and Reconciliation in Northern Ireland and the Border Region of Ireland (2000 - 2006)
The programme is designed to address the economic and social legacy of the 30 years of conflict in the region and to take advantage of new opportunities arising from the restoration of peace. This programme - unique in Europe - follows the work pioneered in the Special Support Programme Community Initiative (1995 - 1999).
In December 2001, Fermanagh Local Strategy Partnership was selected by the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (DARD) and its partners, The Environmental and Heritage Service (EHS) and Northern Ireland Tourist Board (NITB) to deliver the Natural Resource Rural Tourism Initiative (NRRTI) in County Fermanagh, as one of five designated areas in Northern Ireland.
